Mechanical restoration services

Hughie offers complete engine rebuilds, crankshaft reconditioning and many more services for those who don't feel confident enough to tackle the more complicated aspects of restoration work. He has converted his Tiger 100 and Tiger Cub to run exclusively on ordinary unleaded fuel. For those who are looking for that elusive lost oil pressure he offers a crankshaft and con rod job, as well as his famous timing cover oil seal conversion. Hughie has also uses a rig for test running rebuilt engines to ensure that all is well before they go back to their owners. All of the work that he is asked to do, whether a total engine rebuild or a simple crankshaft regrind is firstly washed, dismantled, inspected and then written up, clearly defining the findings. The customer is provided with a firm price for the job, together with a copy of the working notes so that he knows not only how much it is going to cost, but also exactly what he is getting for his money. The work does not proceed until the customer gives his go ahead.
Engines and gearboxes are usually completed within the month, even quicker if no undue problems occur, and as well as the completely rebuilt engine, the customer also gets back all of the worn out and replaced parts. When you add all of this to the fact that Hughie specialises only in Triumphs from immediately post second world war to 1970, and has the advantage of a factory training, you know it makes sense to entrust work on your treasured possession to someone who eats, sleeps and breathes Triumphs.

Although he no longer undertakes full restorations like this, (this machine was found as a pile of rusting parts under a hedge and is special in that it is the machine that Hughie owned and rode in the 1950's), Hughie's unique knowledge of the marque, combined with the many contacts that he has made over the years in Coventry's engineering community enable him to achieve a state of mechanical excellence that would be hard to surpass. Capable of more than holding it's own in modern traffic and offering fuel economy that would be the envy of a modern motorcycle owner JRW is regularly used by Hughie for both business & pleasure.
